BJP targeted Congress as a picture of Kharge, which was left out of Goa State Goods Day poster India News

New Delhi: Goa Congress has criticized the banner displayed during the last week’s State Day celebrations after failing to include the photo of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The banner, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, the head of the state party, Amit Patkar, and the leader of the opposition Yuri Alemao, were displayed in a meeting in Panaji on 30 May. The event was held after a public meeting in Navalim, South Goa.The ruling BJP seized the opportunity to criticize the Congress, posted the image of the banner on its X handle. “Mallikrajun Kharge’s picture was deliberately released from the Congress official Goa State Goods Day banner – a snub for its party’s own national president?” The BJP wrote, “accused the Congress of” insulting its Dalit President. “Meanwhile, Goa Congress chief Amit Patkar dismissed the issue as a minor monitoring. Patkar told PTI, “Kharge’s picture was incorrectly released from the poster.” He defended the party stating that Kharge’s image appeared on other posters displayed across the city during the festival.“This is a small error. Why are you making an issue of this? We are raising more serious issues against the BJP,” Patkar said while trying to reduce the controversy.
