New Delhi: Bombay high court In the petition challenging his 2024 victory from Nagpur South West Assembly seat on Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnvis issued summons.
Congress’ Prafulla Vinodrao Gudade filed a petition against the Maharashtra CM, who lost to Fadnavis by a margin of 39,710 votes during the elections.
In the argument, Gudade demanded that the High Court should declare Fadnavis to win “zero and zero”, alleging procedural laps and corrupt practices.
“Justice Praveen Patil’s bench issued summons to recall CM Fadnavis on 8 May,” Gudade’s lawyer Pavan Dahat told PTI.
According to Gudad’s legal team, several mandatory rules were not followed during the elections held in November last year.
The Mahayuti alliance under the leadership of the BJP had swept the elections, won 230 out of 288 seats, paving the way for Fadnavis to become the Chief Minister.
The High Court has also issued summons to BJP MLAs Mohan Mate (Nagpur West) and Kirtikumar Bhangadia (Chimur, Chandrapur district) in similar election petitions.
