Britain, Canada and others triggers sanctions on remote ministers of Israel-and what does it mean to Netanyahu’s government

Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Norway on Tuesday imposed restrictions on two-distance Israel cabinet ministers, Itmar Ben-Gawir and Bezelle Smotrich, accusing them of inciting extremist violence and enabling the mistreatment of human rights against Palestinians in the West Bank occupied.Israel’s traditionally coordinated step by five western countries marked a strong condemnation of Israeli’s disposal expansion and a rare diplomatic reprimand of top Israeli officials. The restrictions, including travel restrictions and assets, increased violence in West Bank after the attacks of Hamas and subsequent Gaza War.In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the countries stated that Ben-Gwir and Smotrich have provoked “extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights. Extremist rhetoric is frightening and dangerous for the forced displacement of Palestinians and the construction of new Israeli settlements. ,UK Foreign Secretary David Lammi said that the two ministers “used to erase violence against the Palestinians for months and months and months” and “encouraging the egoistic abuses of human rights.”Both men are important figures in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alliance. Ben-Gwir, Minister of National Security, replied, writing on social media: “We overcome the Pharaoh, we will cross the stormer wall,” referring to the UK Prime Minister Kir starrer. The Finance Minister, Smotrich, inaugurated a new West Bank settlement and learned about the sanctions and said, “We are firm to continue construction.”,Israel’s Foreign Minister Gidon Sarna called the sanctions “derogatory” and said he would consult to coordinate a response with Netanyahu. This step increases global frustration with the conduct of Israel in occupied areas. Netanyahu himself is a matter of an ICC arrest warrant on alleged war crimes in Gaza – the allegations denied that the court accused of bias. The Biden administration had earlier banned violent Israeli settlers at West Bank, a policy that was reversed during the presidency of Donald Trump.Israeli’s Human Rights Advocate Iti Mac, who has long campaigned for action against Ben-Gwir and Smotrich, has called the sanctions “historic”, saying that they break the wall of “immunity Israeli politicians.” He said, “This is a message for Netanyahu that he can be ahead.”During the 1967 war, Israel captured West Bank, Gaza Strip and Eastern Jerusalem. Today, more than 500,000 settled West Bank lives in West Bank among most of the people of the international community, while around 3 million Palestinians live under Israeli military control. Palestinians and many world leaders see settlement expansion as a central obstacle for a two-state solution.
