New Delhi: One of the accused involved in the murder of industrialist Gopal Khemka was killed in an encounter by Bihar Police late on Monday night.The accused, Vikas alias Raja, was allegedly involved in the manufacture and sale of illegal weapons. According to officials, he also accompanied the shooter, Umesh at the time of Gopal Khemka’s murder.According to the police circular, a pistol, live cartridge, and spent shells were recovered from the spot.The body has been sent to a government hospital in Patna for postmortem.Bihar Police Headquarters said in a statement, “According to the verified information received from the district control room, the station house officer of Malsalami Police Station said that at around 2:45 pm on 7/8 July 2025, a police encounter took place near Pir Damaria Ghat, about 2 km west of the police station, Bihar Police Headquarters said in a statement.“During the encounter, a notorious criminal, Vikas alias Raja (29 years), son of Pradeep Maho, resident of Dodchak Nagla, Malsalami Police Station, Patna district, died,” he said.JD (U) leader Rajiv Ranjan said that the accused died after trying to attack the police.JD (U) leader Rajiv Ranjan said, “According to the information we have received, the police have killed an accused in the case of Khemka murder, who tried to attack the police. The incident took place near the gate of Khemka’s house in Gandhi Maidan area.After this incident, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday held a meeting to review the law and order situation in the state, during which he directed the officials to complete the investigation as soon as possible, the officials said.
