Canadian composer boycott: Matthew Good Cancels shows on Digital Services Tax; Slam government for us

Canadian composer Matthew Good has canceled his upcoming American tour dates in protest against the pressure of President Donald Trump in Canada to give up his planned digital service tax.Good announced the decision on social media, criticizing the Canadian government’s choice for cancellation of taxes to resume business talks with the United States. The news agency Canadian Press said Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed last month that Canada would cancel the tax as part of the talks. Taxes applied to all major technical companies that operate online marketplace or advertising services and social media platforms, and which earn revenue from user data sales. In his post on Facebook, Canada was well accused of “back down” to “appeal” to the Trump administration and said that he could no longer remain silent about what he is “tight” out of billions in the required revenue as his country. He said, “I can’t stand and remain calm, while our amazing country is motivated to move away from billions in the necessary revenue, constantly wondering if we really have a companion or an enemy in the south,” he wrote in the post.He also revealed that he had avoided speaking for fear of staying on the border or for fear of rejecting his visa.Good was determined to perform in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Buffalo in the coming days.
