Canada: PM Mark Karney visited Toronto Temple on Ram Navami

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Karney identified the beginning of Ram Navami celebrations in the Hindu community and marked Baps Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto.
Celebrated in nine days, Ram Navami – also known as Rama Navratri – concluded the Navratri festival, respecting Goddess Durga and her nine divine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. The last day remembers Lord Rama’s birth, which is one of the most prestigious gods of Hinduism.
Sharing his experience on X, Carney posted, “Ram Navami joined the Hindu community members at the @Baps_toronto temple yesterday for the first day of the ceremony. Thank you for sharing my traditions and culture with me. Thank you. Happy Ram Navami!”
Her participation at the festival was welcomed by Cabinet Minister Anita Anand, who also took X to share photos from the event. “To celebrate the birth of Lord Ram, he was happy to welcoming @Markjcarney on his first visit to @baps_toronto. A very happy Ram Navami!” she wrote.
Carney’s visit to the temple has made extensive conversations about the situation of Hindu representation in Canadian public life. Hindu Canadian FoundationA non-profit organization, which advocated Hindu interests across the country, highlighted the challenges faced by the community.
In a social media post, the organization said, “There are important challenges for the Hindu community in the last few years, which are more than a million. Known to follow the rules and laws, Hindus basically assimilate in cultures that they move forward. Despite maintaining a low profile, they sometimes make political decisions.
The Foundation recently addressed an increase in anti -Hindu spirit, blaming it for separatist influences. It urged the federal administration to take meaningful action. The organization said, “The recent bounce in the anti -Hindu spirit, fuel by growing separatist groups, has deeply affected every Hindu Canadian. Addressing these pressure issues would be an important focus to the upcoming government,” the organization said.
In particular, the presence of Carney in the recession comes a few weeks before the federal elections scheduled for April 28.
