New Delhi: Financial Action Task Force (FATF) condemned the bloody terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April on Monday, announcing that it would pursue its investigation as to how effective country is fighting terrorist financing.“Terrorist attacks, kill fear around the world, mam.FATF’s comment comes when India has continued to highlight Pakistan’s alleged role in sponsoring cross -border terrorism and removing international financial support for weapons. Sources suggested PTI that Pakistan’s activities gave the country a fresh push to bring back the FATF “gray list”.On 22 April, Pakistan -backed militants killed 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Kashmir. New Delhi has repeatedly highlighted how Pakistan is providing safe shelter to nominated terrorists. The claim was further tralled when senior Pakistani military officials allegedly attended the funeral of terrorists killed in Indian military attacks on 7 May.In the upcoming Asia Pacific Group (APG) meeting on 25 August and in the preparation of FATF plane and working group sessions on 20 October, India is compiling a detailed dosier under Pacistan’s alleged violations of Pacistan and funding of Fapf’s money-money laundering and terror. India has planned to formally press for Pakistan’s gray listing in these meetings.Currently, 24 countries are subject to FATF’s “gray list”, which gives flags to nations under increasing monitoring due to strategic weaknesses in dealing with money laundering, terror finance and dissemination financing. Gray-listed countries are required to address these weaknesses quickly under a close watch of FATF.Pakistan’s relationship with gray list is long and stalled. The list was first added in February 2008, Pakistan was removed in June 2010, only to return in February 2012. It was re-demolished in February 2015, but was re-listed in June 2018 and remained under investigation until October 2022, when FATF removed Pakistan, but advised to strengthen the continuous cooperation with the Estia Pacific Group and strengthen the counter-corner.FATF, which serves as an international standard-sector to fight money laundering and terror financeing, said in his statement that it is working with more than 200 courts, which is using financial intelligence as an important weapon to break the Terror Funding chains for counter-folding of terrorism (CFT) framework worldwide.“In addition to establishing a structure to combat terrorist financing, FATF has focused its focus on the effectiveness of measures that countries have put in place. In this way, through our mutual evaluation, we have identified gaps, which need to be addressed, “FATF said.For more than a decade, the Watchdogs have been working to help countries to be ahead of terrorist financing threats, including social media platforms, crowdfunding and exploitation of digital assets.“FATF will soon release a comprehensive analysis of terrorist financing, compiling cases provided by our global network. The statement said it would host a webinar to help public and private sectors understand risks and to be cautious to emerging hazards.In Munich recently, at the ‘No Money for Terror Conference’, FATF President Elisa de Enda Madrazo stressed the importance of global cooperation, saying: “No company, authority, or country alone can compete with this challenge.
