In an initial test in Headingly, he was rejected for a duck in the first innings and made just 20 in the second. He was retained for the second Test, where he scored 31 and 26 runs. In the third Test, he showed a glimpse of the form with a knock of 40 runs in the first innings, but could manage only 14 in the second.With his place under investigation, India’s captain Shubman Gill called him to leave for the fourth Test. Three changes were made in the playing XI. Ansul Kamboj was assigned a Test debut, while Sai Reformson and Shardul Thakur were also included. Sudhasan replaced Karun, and Shardul came for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was thrown out due to a left knee injury.Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif criticized Gill for not supporting Nair at a critical turn. Kaif posted on X, “Today Shubman Gill had a chance to return Karun, who was entitled to another chance. He should have been elected Karun Nair.
