CBI arrested IRS officer for Rs 25 lakh

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Amit Kumar Singhal for allegedly to accept a bribe of Rs 25 lakh, officials said on Sunday. Another person was arrested in the case.“The CBI arrested two accused, including a senior Indian Revenue Service officer 2007 batch, was currently posted as Additional Director General, a private person to demand and accept a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the Directorate of Taxpayer Services, New Delhi, and the complainant,” the agency said in a post on X.The official statement said, “The demand for bribe was with harassment in the case of legal action, implementation of heavy punishment and non-non-transportation.”Working on a complaint about the demand for an alleged bribery, the CBI set up a trap and arrested a private person, Harsh Kotak, who was allegedly caught by the officer, confessing bribe, at the later residence in single, Mohali, officials said.Singhal was taken into custody from his Vasant Kunj Niwas in New Delhi. Meanwhile, the CBI is searching as part of the ongoing investigation at various places in Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai.
