New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon come with officials, especially for its students, teachers and other stakeholders, with a community radio station.The proposal was approved in the recent governing body meeting of the board, where it was decided to transfer the application for the procurement of the license.A CBSE official said, “The proposal to set up a community radio station was approved by the governing body of the board. It was decided that the consultative meeting would be held for the preparation and processing of the application for community radio license with stakeholders and experts in the next six months.”The board has also decided to work on financial implications, the official said.CBSE already runs a podcast that is called Shikha Wani which in an attractive and uninterrupted manner spreads timely audio content for various subjects of grade 9–12.CBSE-Shiksha Vani is available on the Play Store for Android phone users. Shikha Wani has uploaded the content of about 400 pieces according to the NCERT course so far.The official said, “The form of materials will be broadcast at the community radio station, work will be done after the license is obtained.”There is an important third level in community radio broadcasting, different from public service radio broadcasting and commercial radio. Community radio stations are low-power radio stations, which are to be established and operated by local communities.It provides a platform for air sounds between the local community, especially the marginalized sections of the marginalized marginalized of the society on issues related to health, nutrition, education, agriculture, etc.According to official data, there are 540 commission community radio stations in India. These stations are run by non-profit organizations such as educational institutions, NGOs and societies.The Government of India is actively promoting the development of community radio through various initiatives and schemes, especially in rural and remote areas.
