World No. 5 Arjun Erigasi and German’s Vincent Kimer launched their campaigns with a strong win on 1 on the day of Chennai Grandmasters 2025, which was going on in Hyatt Regency on Wednesday. Erigasi performed dominance to defeat American GM Avander Liang, while Keyar produced technically sound performance to dismiss India’s Nihal Sarin. These were the only decisive results in the Masters section, in which the remaining sports ended in the draw. A high-profile Chennai Derby between Pranava V and Kartikeyan Murali ended in a difficult-to-one draw.
