Chile lifts tsunami alert after 7.4 Drake Passage Earthquake

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred on the southern coast of Chile and Argentina on Friday.
The US National Weather Service issued a tsunami warning and Chile officials ordered the evacuation of coastal areas in the remote Magalanus region.
Later, Magalanas, director of the State Disaster Agency, removed the withdrawal order and said “everyone can return their activities and resume.”
Shortly after the earthquake, Chile’s Senprade Disaster Agency said that it expects to hit the waves of a one and three meters on the beach, guessing Chile’s hydrographic and oceanographic service (SHOA) to guess that they would arrive within a few hours.

Chile is one of the most affected countries from the earthquake, located on the convergence of three tectonic plates: Nazka, South American and Antarctic plates.
