China Food Safety Scandal: 230 children were poisoned in kindergarten; Toxic dye is used to enhance food

Officials in China have detained six people and started an investigation after hundreds of children in Kindergarten, one Gansu province, poisoned by food contaminated from the Industrial Grade lead pigment.Earlier this month, the scandal that surfaced in the Brownstone Pexin Kindergarten in Tianshui has triggered national resentment and has been investigated on failures in education, health and government sectors.A provincial report released on Sunday has revealed that the school principal had deliberately added illegal color agents to food in an attempt to make food more attractive and attract new entrances. The pigments were purchased online and clearly marked “not for consumption”, later found to be dangerous under high levels, 400,000 times from the legal limit with a sample test.Preliminary reports states that 235 children were admitted to hospital with vomiting, abdominal cramps and even teeth with black symptoms. Later blood tests revealed that at least 247 students and employees, including the head of the school, raised the lead levels.Since the beginning of food safety failure, it has since been snatched into a broad scam with allegations of a broad cover-up and comprehensive official negligence. Investigators said that efforts were made to prove the results of testing from parents, bribe officers and complaints of silence. Its laboratory was described as a lack of disorganized and proper inspection according to the parent.China’s Center for Disease Control in Gansu was also criticized for lack of case. Investigators stated that the agency failed to follow the samples improperly and after receiving the initial warning, causing discrepancies between the results of the test and the level of real contamination. The report cited by The Guardian further, further, accused the local education authorities of ignoring the fact that Kindergarten was working without a proper license. It was allegedly not passed through food security inspection for at least two years, despite charging high fees to parents. Some officials are suspected of receiving bribe from the main investors of the school. While six staff members of Kindergarten, including Principal and Cook, have been formally arrested, now disciplinary investigation is going on against 27 others including government and hospital staff.China’s top anti -corruption watchdog has initiated a separate investigation into senior data related to the scam. Most of the children are now discharged from the hospital after treatment, which allegedly helped about 40%of their blood levels in their blood. In a public statement, the Gansu Provincial Government apologized to the affected families and promised accountability. On Sunday evening, protests outside the kindergarten were also provoked as the fiery parents demanded justice.
