Man stabbed in New York Metro after stepping on another rider’s shoes: Police

Police said a 38 -year -old man was killed on the Manhattan subway platform on Friday morning.
Victim, identified as John Sheldon Brooklyn was attacked at 8:30 am Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall StationAccording to police, Sheldon and another person started arguing to ride in a downtown number 5 train after the attack on Sheldon’s shoes. The confrontation increased, and Sheldon was once again stabbed in the train and after getting out at the station again.
Officers responding to 911 calls found Sheldon unconscious on stage, with several stabbing wounds for his torso. He was rushed to the Bellevue Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The suspect, considered in his 20s or 30s, and ran away from the scene, dressed with black headphones. Officials said that men did not know each other. No arrests have been made till Friday afternoon, and investigation is on.
After a recent high-profile attacks, the murder comes in the midst of increasing security check on the metro system. Although there has been a decline in overall crime in the subway this year, the incident may promote concerns among the riders.
“A long time I will take 30- or 40 minutes of walking away, because once you are there and it is moving, you can’t really get out,” Elizabeth Daily, a 20-year-old commuter said, who is waiting on the uptown platform.
Others resigned for the dangers of urban transit. Jonathan Richet, a 19 -year -old college student, said, “Obviously it takes me out, but it is New York. It’s a common thing.” “I’m glad I didn’t see it.”
According to Police Commissioner Jessica Tish, there was no murder in the metro system from January to March – marked the first such stretch in seven years. Major metro crimes in the first quarter were also 18% below, and overall transit crime is about 11% less than the same period last year.
