LLM degree holder bar fails in Test, India sends notice to HC BCI

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Bar Council of India (BCI), as the Master’s Degree holder in the law thwarted the All India Bar Examination (AIBE), which is necessary for a law graduation to become a lawyer.AIBE follows an open book format designed to evaluate fundamental legal knowledge and assesses the analytical abilities of the candidates and installs a minimum qualification benchmark for admission to the legal profession. HC issued a notice to the candidate after lack of transparency in AIBE, as the body did not justify his failure, even after re -examined.The petition was filed by Uravi Acharya, who holds the LLM degree in the criminal law. She appeared in AIBE in December 2024 and was declared a failure. He refused to accept the result and requested to re -examine. Even after re -examining, the department in BCI, which operates AIBE, said that it had failed the test.Acharya’s lawyer, advocate Pratik Jasani, told the court that seven of the 100 multi-class questions were officially withdrawn, which should reduce the total score by 93, in which the passing marks were revised from 45 to 42.Jasani said that the petitioner was a bright student and passed LLM in criminal law with first class. He attempted all 100 questions, and with the withdrawal of seven of them, he should be honored with Grace Marx. However, the authority did not clarify this.
