Conflict Push: Netanyahu to visit Washington; Trump hopes for Gaza Trus soon
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit Washington next Monday to interact with US President Donald Trump, as the White House intensifies efforts to end the war in Gaza.Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior US administration official confirmed the upcoming visit but noted that it has not yet been formally declared. The purpose of the meeting is to pursue a ceasefire agreement and discussion on a possible mortgage deal in Gaza.Netanyahu’s visit is from Israeli Minister Ron Dermer for Israeli’s strategic affairs, who were in Washington earlier this week to interact with top US authorities on Gaza, Iran and related issues.The journey comes even after a week when a ceasefire caught in a separate 12-day struggle between Israel and Iran. Trump has since shifted his focus into the ongoing battle between Israel and Hamas, indicating a strong desire for broker peace.Trump told reporters on Friday, “We think within next week we are going to get a ceasefire,”White House press secretary Karolin Lewit said on Monday that Trump and his team were in “continuous communication with the leadership of Israel” and ending the struggle was the top priority for the President.He said, “It is heartbreaking to see images coming from both Israel and Gaza during this war, and the President wants to see it ending. She wants to save life,” she said.Lewitt said that there was a discussion going on to arrange Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, although the date was not officially confirmed. The journey time was first reported by Exios.The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023 after a major surprise attack on Israel. According to Israeli officials, 1,219 people were killed in the attack, most of them based on the counting of AFP.During the same attack, Palestinian terrorists took 251 hostages. The Israeli army says that 49 of them are still in Gaza, including 27, who are believed to be dead.In response, Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza. According to the Ministry of Health in Hamas-Run area, at least 56,531 people have been killed so far, most of them are also citizens.
