New Delhi: The Congress on Friday claimed that 14 Indians going to Russia are “missing” in search of work and urged the government to handle the case with Moscow and make serious efforts to reproduce them.Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Waring addressed a press conference here with two persons of the state who have been waiting for the return of their brothers missing in Russia for the last one and a half years.“On December 2023, 126 people went abroad in search of work. They wanted to go to Singapore and Malaysia and Italy, but were taken to Moscow. My friend Jagdeep ji told me that his brother, who had gone to Russia with 4 others, used to pay Rs 31,40,000, but he did not get work … These people were recruited by the Russian government in the army, “he claimed.Out of these 126 people, about 100 people have returned, he said.“We have 14 people missing today, I have their names, numbers and everything,” said Waring and showed the list of those 14 people. The Congress MP of Punjab said, “9 of these missing people are from Uttar Pradesh, three from Punjab, one from Maharashtra and one from Jammu and Kashmir … This is the story of Modi’s nectar period.”“So, we want to ask the central government – will you help them? Will you ask Russia why they have recruited Indian citizens in their army? Have you taken any action against the agents who are working in connivance with the Russian government and are taking boys from here and then killing them there? So, we want all these questions.”
