New Delhi: The government has rejected social media rumors, claiming that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar has been asked to vacate his official residence soon after his surprising resignation earlier this week. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) issued a public clarification stating: “It is widely claimed on social media that the official residence of the Vice President has been sealed and the former VP has immediately asked to vacate his residence. These claims are not fake for misunderstanding. Always make it to be called. As an explanation, the circumstances around Dhankhar’s sudden resignation were speculated online, about two years ago, his term was due to ending in August 2027. While the official reason was cited for health concerns, many opposition leaders have questioned on time and suggested that the former vice -president may be pressurized to step down.According to PTI, 74 -year -old Dhankhar has started packing and is preparing to leave the Vice President’s enclave, where he was living since April last year. Manufactured under the Central Vista redevelopment scheme, the Enclave is located on the Church Road near the Parliament House Complex. “He will be offered a type of eighth bungalow in Delhi or any other area of Lutyens,” an official of the Urban Development Ministry told PTI.According to the protocol, the former vice -president is entitled to government housing, and the infection is being controlled according to standard procedures. The PIB reiterated that the residence has not been sealed and this step is not sudden or forced. In the Rajya Sabha, Congress President and Leader of Opposition, Mallikrajun Kharge questioned the story and said: “The government should answer why he resigned. I can see ‘Kuch Kaal Hai in Dal’. His health is fine. He always defended RSS and BJP. Who and what is behind his resignation, it should be known to the country. ,Trinmool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee took a step forward, alleging that Dhankhar was “forced” to resign by the Prime Minister and senior ministers and was “threatened” with impeachment.Meanwhile, the Election Commission has initiated the process for the election of a new vice -president. The Electoral College consists of elected and enrolled members of both houses of Parliament. According to Article 68 (2) of the Constitution, a new vice -president should be selected “as soon as possible” after a vacancy. The NDA currently holds a comfortable majority in both homes, leading to the upcoming election.
