6.2 A powerful earthquake measuring magnitude has shocked parts of the southern Philippines on Tuesday.The shallow earthquake covered a distance of about 374 kilometers (232 mi) to the east of Davo Island. There was no immediate report of casualties or damage.In a post on X, the National Center for Cesmin posted the earthquake details on X. It said, “EQ of M: 6.2, on: 24/06/2025 07:28:06 IST, Lat: 7.90 n, long: 130.09 E, depth: 10 km, location: After the Philippine Islands.” TeaHe also approved the Philippine Institute of Volcano and Semology, which reported the earthquake that no tsunami alert was issued.The Philippines Pacific is located on the “Ring of Fire”, an arc of acute seismic activity that is spread from Japan from Southeast Asia and across the Pacific Basin. Earthquake is a daily phenomenon in the country. Low intensity earthquakes are very weak to be felt by humans, although it is difficult to predict a strong and destructive earthquake and where they can strike.The last major earthquake was recorded in July 2022. This was a magnitude 7 trembling that triggered landslide and land fissure in the northern province of Abra, killing at least 11 people and injuring 609 others.
