Bhubaneswar: The Center on Monday staged a strong protest with the Canadian government about the alleged insult of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Toronto. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) intervened in the reports thrown eggs in a chariot during the Rath Yatra in Toronto on Sunday.Mea spokesperson Randhir Jiswal said, “We have seen a report about the disintegration made by mischievous elements during the Rath Yatra procession in Toronto. We hope that the Canadian government will take necessary action to protect the religious rights of the people. , After the response, the president of the BJD and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requested the MEA to address the sensitive issue. “Such tasks do deeply to the devotees of Lord Jagannath around the world and cause a lot of crisis for the people of Odisha, where this festival holds a very emotional and cultural significance. If these reports are true, Odisha Gowat should take the issue seriously and the Ministry of External Affairs should press to hold a strong opposition with the Canadian officials.” Patnaik raised the issue after sharing a video on a social media platform in Toronto, in which broken eggs were seen on the pavement.
