New Delhi: Rashtra Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sanjay Yadav on Tuesday called the Election Commission of India a “election core (thief)”, as the opposition continued his protest against the election body on the claims of special intensive amendment (sir) and “vote theft”.Speaking to ANI, Sanjay Yadav said that the Election Commission has become the “democratic team” of the BJP. “The Election Commission of India has become the ‘election core of India’. The Election Commission is acting as a democratic wing of the BJP. EC has become BJP’s ‘anti -democratic squad’. BJP people used to talk about ending the Constitution. When the people of the country taught them a lesson in 2024 elections, the EC said that it was being done to do this work. Earlier today, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and party president Mallikrajun Kharge joined the members of the Fellow India Block in staging protests in Parliament on the issue of Special Intensive Amendment (SIR). Many opposition MPs arrived wearing white T-shirts, which were ‘124 not out’ with slogans.Prominent leaders like Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), MP Supriya Sule and DMK MP Kanimozhi also protested on the issue.On Monday, the opposition leader of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, and other Bharat Block MPs was detained by the Delhi Police, while marching from Parliament to the Election Commission office in protest against the alleged irregularities in Bihar.Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition’s fight is not a political battle, but a fight to save the Constitution. “The reality is that they cannot talk. The truth is in front of the country. This fight is not political. This fight is to save the constitution. This fight is for a man, one vote. We want a clean, pure voters list,” the Congress leader said.The Election Commission said on Monday that the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is “still time” to certify his allegations of “vote theft” or submit a formal announcement to apologize to the country.
