Elon Musk’s $ 2 trillion dogi saving pledge for Donald Trump goes up in smoke: Report

According to a report by The Financial Times, Elon Musk’s Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) has dropped much less due to large -scale savings. Despite claims on its official website that it was $ 170 billion in government spending, the new analysis says only a fraction of that amount can be verified. Musk vowed to cut “at least $ 2 trillion” from the federal budget when he launched Dogge during the re -election campaign of US President Trump. However, an inquiry into a financial time has created serious doubts about the actual impact of the cost reduction task force.According to FT, the figure of $ 170 billion includes several savings that are presented exaggerated or incorrectly. For example, DOGE claims $ 31.8 billion in savings by canceling or adjusting more than 10,000 contracts. But FT can only confirm the cut in about 6,700 of those cases. The report also stated that Dogo counted savings from “indefinite distribution vehicles” (IDVS), contracts that provide flexibility to government agencies. It calculated savings by using the highest possible legal expenses limitations rather than the amount of actual expenses. In addition, Dogge took credit for the cost cut which had already started under the Biden administration. One example includes an initial cancellation of the $ 1.4 billion Defense Department in a decision returned in September 2024.Apart from FT’s findings, Penn Wharton Budget models suggest that government spending has increased since Dogi came into operation. Politico reported that the expenditure increased by 6.3 percent in Trump’s second term compared to the first four months of 2024.In April, Microsoft’s co-founder Bill Gates accused Dog of “killing children” with a cut in spending, as political anger continues to build on the real-world influences of the program.Musk, who recently announced that he would “step back” with his Dogi responsibilities, is no longer working from the White House. However, he is involved in the work of the department. Meanwhile, Tesla has suffered backlash in recent months, some analysts warned that their role in the Trip administration’s close relationship and a controversial nationwide firing spriy can damage the company’s finance. The White House and Musk’s lawyers have not responded to the requests of the comment on the report.
