Elon Musk’s Tesla soon to enter India? Tesla Inc. is paying reservation fee to Indian customers, who pre-book its model 3. This action suggests that Elon Musk -led US electric vehicle manufacturer is preparing to enter India’s automobile market, which ranks as the third largest at the world.
According to a Bloomberg report, the company’s correspondence for customers in 2016 says: “We would like to return your reservation fee for the time. When we finalize our offerings in India, we will reach the market again. We hope to see back with you after being ready to launch and distribute in your country.”
Tesla is processing the refund for these long -standing reservations as the first version of Model 3 is being closed.
These communications sent from the official Tesla email address, after years of discussion about the country’s adequate import tariffs, indicate the intention of the manufacturer of starting operations in India, the report states.

Elon Musk recently announced its plans to travel to India this year by matching the ongoing trade talks between India and the US, resulting in a potentially reduced automobile tariff.
A modified tariff structure can affect the strategic approach of Tesla. The company experienced its first decline in global vehicle delivery over ten years, while BYD faced significant competition from the company.
The presence of Tesla vehicles in India will appeal in the growing middle class section, although it can potentially affect local automobile manufacturers who provide employment to many workers in their production features.
Meanwhile, in another important development, Tesla has secured a private office place in the Kurla region of Mumbai, adjacent to the Bandra-Kurla Complex Business District, which demonstrates its commitment to expand operations in India.
According to the ET report, Tesla has obtained a 30-seat scope within a co-functional facility with a monthly payment of Rs 3 lakh in Phoenix Market City.

The company has agreed to a one-year tenancy with a three-month lock-in clause, while Tesla has developed its India strategy. The arrangement between Tesla India Motor and Energy and Co-functioning provider EFC was finalized earlier this month.
According to a source familiar with the situation, “There is a possibility of supporting initial stage such as local hiring, regulatory coordination, seller meetings, or backnd support for its anticipated admission in the Indian EV market.”
