‘Encourages conversions’: BJP’s Stand Slam in OBC list; This is called ‘dangerous example’. Bharat News

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday participated in the east against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and accused her government of encouraging religious transformation into the state under the guise of “social inclusion”.,BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya cited the state OBC list on X on X, stating that “those who convert to Christianity would be automatically considered OBC.”“This is Mamata Banerjee’s idea of” social inclusion ” – one that openly encourages religious conversions!” BJP leader said.“So now, adaptation from Hinduism is being rewarded with the position of OBC and lifetime reservation benefits! A dangerous example. A clear misuse of social justice for vote-bank politics, “he said.Malavia also said that, before 2010, which is during the last Left Front rule of the total 66 OBC classes, only 11 classes were from the Muslim community, while the remaining 55 classes were from the non-Muslim community, of which the Muslim shares were only 20 percent. The BJP leader said that in the new addition to 2025, there were Muslims in 51 new additional classes in Part 1, 46 (or 90 percent), while Part -2 had 25 new additions of 21 (or 84 percent) Muslims.“What is it if it is not a religion-based appeasement, on June 3, 2025, the West Bengal government extended OBC reservation in state services to 17 percent (from seven percent)-to benefit these newly involved Muslim groups. The new list is nothing, but the court’s principles of clear contempt and social justice are insulted, “Malavia said.It comes a day after Mamta, while addressing the monsoon session of the assembly, said that religion has no connection with the latest OBC survey, while tabling the report that has identified 140 communities in the OBC category. He also claimed that there were 49 castes in the OBC-A category, while there were 91 castes in the OBC-B category and 50 more castes would be included soon.Meanwhile, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh supported Mamta and said that accused the BJP of confusing the public.“This is absolutely wrong. Mamta Banerjee has made things clear about the OBC list. She has explained everything,” Ghosh said.He said, “What Amit Malvia and omission of the state are doing are distorted (things) and want to confuse the public. But Mamata Banerjee has made everything clear,” he said. What’s the issue?Earlier in May 2024, a Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court had canceled all OBC certificates issued in West Bengal after 2010, which ideally was that all the certificates issued during the current Trinmool Congress government in the state had become zero since 2011.Following this order from the Division Bench of Justice Tapebrata Chakraborty and Justice Rajasekhar Month, more than 5,00,000 OBC certificates issued during that period were canceled and they could not be used to enjoy reservation for jobs. The West Bengal government transferred the Supreme Court on the basis of the order of the Calcutta High Court, and in March this year, the apex court allowed the state government to conduct a new survey to identify OBCs in the state. However, since the onset of the survey, the BJP has questioned the style and format of the fresh survey by the state government.Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader Suvandu Officer claimed that the latest survey of the state government was being conducted in the same way that did not keep land in the Supreme Court and was scattered by the Calcutta High Court.
