‘Exploitation of patients for sex’: In New Jersey, Indian-Orient Doctor accused medical fraud, attacked women patients
Ritesh Kalra, a doctor at an Indian -origin New Jersey, has been accused of several medical fraud, including the distribution of opioids without any legitimate medical purpose, which is never a billing. Kalra also urged patients for sexual favor in exchange for opioid recipe. According to DOJ documents, Kalwa is now on the arrest of the house and is also banned from practicing medicine and prescribing the medicine and will need to stop its medical practice while the case is pending.
Opioid tips without medical purpose
Dr. Kalra allegedly operated a bullet mill from his medical office, where he regularly determined high-cost Opioids-which included oxicodone and Prommethazine with codeine to patients without a legitimate medical purpose. Between January 2019 and February 2025, Kalra issued more than 31,000 tips for Oxicodone, including days when he wrote 50 tips.
Sexual favor for opioid prescription
Many former employees of Kalra claimed that women patients complained that Kalra touched her sexually and demanded her sexual suggestion to receive her prescriptions. A patient also claimed that he was forced to have anal sex during his clinical appointments. Another patient continued to receive opioid recipes from Kalra when the patient was disorganized in the Essex County Correctional Facility and had no contact with Kalra.
False bills for In-Person visit
Kalra also billedly billed for in-tradition visit and counseling sessions which have never been done. As part of the Health Care Fraud Scheme, Kalra’s electronic medical records allegedly listed false progress notes in the fabricated dates of service, and included examination notes that were generally similar to traveling and did not record significant signs.American Attorney Alina Habba said that Dr. Kalsa used the status of responsibility organized by doctors for drug addiction in his patients. “Physicians have placed a place of intense responsibility – but allegedly, Dr. Kalra used the condition that exploits fuel addiction, weak patients for sex, and affects the public healthcare program of New Jersey. He allegedly violated the laws by adenting the lawing medicad for sexual remedies and ghost appointments. Alina Habba said that our office will continue to carry forward those who convert their medical licenses into tools for personal benefits and sexual satisfaction.
