New Delhi: Rohan Jaitley, son of Arun Jaitley, on Saturday reiterated the claim of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that the late Finance Minister was sent to “threatened” to protest the far————ies farm laws of the Modi government. Speaking in the Congress-Gunn Annual Legal Conclave 2025, Gandhi recalled a stressful exchange, saying, “I remember when I was fighting against the farm laws, Arun Jaitley was sent to threaten me. He said, ‘If you continue this route, if you continue this route, we will have to take action against the government and fight against us, we have to take action against you. I replied, ‘I think you don’t know whom you are talking to. We never bow down. The British could not turn us. ,Gandhi’s remarks quickly attracted a rapid refutation from Jaitley’s son Rohan Jaitley, who accused the Congress MP of incorrectly presenting the facts and politicizing the memory of the deceased. Rohan Jaitley said in a statement, “Rahul Gandhi now claims my late father, Arun Jaitley, threatened him on farm laws. Remind me, my father died in 2019. The farm laws were introduced in 2020.”Saying the claim factually wrong and poorly taste, Rohan further said, “It was more important that it was not in my father’s nature that anyone should be threatened with an opposing approach. He was a staunch democrat and always believed in building consensus.” He described his father’s perspective of politics as one, which welcomed the open discussion instead of a confrontation. “If all such situations were to happen, as often in politics, it will invite free and open discussions to everyone to reach a mutually acceptable solution. Who was he just and he remains his legacy today. ,Rohan Jaitley also urged Gandhi to take precautions while speaking about the deceased public figures. He said, “I will appreciate Rahul Gandhi, while talking about those who are not with us,” he said, remembering a previous example where Gandhi allegedly politicized the last days of former Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar. He said, ‘He made a similar effort with Manohar Parrikar ji, which was politicizing his last days, which was equally bad taste. Let the late rest resting, ”he said.Gandhi’s comprehensive speech at the Conclave included allegations of voter fraud in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, criticism of the Election Commission of India and the constitutional decline under the present government.
