Fierce floods in Australia: 50,000 affected amid nonstop rainfall

More than 50,000 people were released on Thursday as torrential rains continued for Eastern Australia.In the 400 km north-east of Sydney, at least three people are missing with a 63-year-old man in Hamlet of Moto. Officials sent drones, boats and helicopters to save the victims, the news agency AFP cited local authorities.In just two days, parts of New South Wales received more than four months of rain. The rivers were swept away, the roads were flooded, and many people had to climb their roofs to stay safe.Emergency head Bayran, reported by the country’s national broadcaster ABC, said, “We are being protected by many people from roofs and upper levels of homes.”Tari city was given a tough fight in 300 km north of Sydney. It received 415 mm of rain – more than four times the normal amount for May.In the city near Kampasi, about 20,000 people are stuck with very little access to food, water and medical aid. Australia has been working with strange and extreme weather in recent months. The Australian National University said the sea temperature was recorded the highest in 2024. Hot oceans may have more rain and strong storms.Emergency Management Minister Christie McBan warned that the rain is not over yet and some rivers may still grow.
