According to LT General Rahul R Singh, major lessons from Operation Sindoor:
- There is no other tolerance to terrorist attacks: “There is no scope to absorb the pain in which we did a few years ago.”
- Accurate targets through intelligence: “Planning and selection of goals was based on lots of data that was collected using technology and human intelligence.”
- Careful operational restraint: “A total of 21 goals were identified, out of which we thought that it would be prudent to be attached … It was only the last day or the last hour that it was decided that these nine goals would be set.”
- Tri-Seva’s approach: “It was decided that it would be a three-service approach to send the right message that we are really an integrated force.”
- Increased control: “An important idea was that we should always be at the top of the escape ladder.”
- Strategic War ending: “It is easy to start a war, but it is very difficult to control it. So I would say that it was a very master stroke that was played to stop the war at a reasonable time.”
- Firm preventive: “If necessary, punitive action will be taken … This is an important message that is loud and clear.”
Referring to the post-operation ceasefire with Pakistan, Singh said, “Panch was ready, Pakistan felt that it could be in a bad situation, which is why he asked for a ceasefire.”
