Former diplomat, 3 father of 3, sexual abuse children during pladets in Washington, DC

42 -year -old Thomas Mahoni, a former diplomat, an economist of the World Bank, who is considered a community hero, has been accused of sexually abusing three children in his neighborhood. The incidents took place in 2023 and recently in July 2025. An Australian National, Mahoni, was arrested last month, although the first complaint came to the police in 2023, when one of the children reported that when she was on a drama with the children of Mahoni, Mahoni offered to help her go to the bathroom and then assaulted her. All the victims of Mahoni are less than 10 years. The Washington Post reported that in 2023, the US Attorney Office refused to prosecute Mahoni due to “the government’s burden beyond a reasonable doubt”. The report stated that all three minors told investigators that they were playing with their children at Mahoni’s house when misbehaved – watching a film, playing video games, or pretending to run a target store, reported in the report. “I think I failed as a mother by relying on this person,” said one of the children. Prior to a hearing on Thursday, the prosecutors fought to put Mahoni in jail as he was waiting for the trial, calling it a “significant flight risk”. TeaHey expressed concern that the Australian national will run away from the national country. If he is released, pointing to his relationship with the Australian Embassy, and seeing that even if he has surrendered his passport, he could be able to get another from the embassy. The prosecutors also told the court that they came to know that Mahony’s wife was planning to go to Japan and then Australia and was packing in Mahoni’s parents apartments. A spokesman for the Australian Foreign Affairs and Trade Department said that the department knows about the arrest of an Australian citizen and “stands up to provide consular assistance to any Australian citizen”, but did not answer questions about Mahony’s relationship with the Australian Embassy.Mahoni’s LinkedIn Profile shows that he was working with the World Bank as an economist starting in January 2023. The reports said that on July 23, his employment was finished when his arrest and allegations were ended.
