According to reports, Germany has started preparing to expand its network of bunkers and shelters, as Russia may attack another European country within the next four years.“For a long time, there was a comprehensive belief in Germany that war was not a landscape that we needed to prepare. It has changed. We are concerned about the risk of a major war risk in Europe,” Ralph Taler told Ralph Terrus, the chief of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), who explained the gardesh. The concern is increasing that after its three -year war in Ukraine, Russia may be able to target a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) country by 2029. Germany’s Defense Head, General Carston Breaur told the BBC last week that Russia is building hundreds of tanks every year, which could be used in the Baltic sector in 2029 or before NATO countries. Meanwhile, Germany is focusing on using existing structures rather than the construction of new bunkers, as new construction will take a long time and expensive. Tisler’s agency is working on plans to use the basement of public buildings as tunnels, metro stations, underground garages, car parks, and shelters.

Tisler said that a national effort was required to find and convert such places to “quickly place for 1 million people”. According to his agency The Guardian report, this summer will submit a complete plan later. He said that the country is in the race against time, and it is not enough to rely on new construction only. “It will take a long time for such shelters to plan and build and be very expensive,” Tesler said. So the use of existing places should be focused on using. Germany has about 2,000 bunkers from the Cold War era, but less than 600, 580 to be accurate, in work conditions. Most will require expensive repairs. But even then they give shelter to only 480,000 people, which is less than 1 percent of the population of Germany. In comparison, BBK stated that Finland has 50,000 protection rooms, which can shelter 4.8 million people – about 85 percent of its population. The works of Russia in Ukraine have taken similar action throughout Europe. Poland, which is the range of Russia and Ukraine, has planned to spend about 5 percent of its GDP on defense this year, according to a BBC report last month.
