Kosovo deadlock on the election of the Speaker of Parliament |

Pristina: Kosovo’s Parliament failed to elect a new speaker for a tenth time on Saturday, deepen a political crisis and increase the possibility of Snap elections.
Three months of deadlock began with the 9 February elections, with the former ruling Wetwendose (“self -determination” party failed to secure the majority, winning 48 out of 120 seats.
As the largest party, VV proposed Albulena HasihuAs the Minister of Justice, Chairman in the former government.
However, MPs did not even get a chance to vote on this proposal as VV wanted a secret vote – which was refused by opposition MPs.
The opposition alleged VV, saying that the formation of institutions should be stopped intentionally by not proposing the representatives of the middle party.
“If they propose Albulane Haksia for the speaker, not 10 but 100 hundred times, we will oppose it,” said Memli Crossni, the chairman of the lead opposition. Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
On the other hand, VV blames the opposition, accusing them of discriminatory treatment against Hasihu.
The assembly is in session from April 15.
The Constitution does not set any time limit, rather it suggests that the session cannot end without the election of the President, three vice -presidents and parliamentary bodies.
For legal and political studies, the group warned that the deadlock “is recommending international agreements under the European Union’s Development Scheme. Kosovo has been denied access to 882.6 million euros.
The next session is scheduled for Monday.
