New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday alleged that “some people” contacted the party’s supremo Uddhav Thackeray, first during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and then the Maharashtra Assembly Poll, and then promised to ensure “Pachi seats. He claimed that these individuals claimed that they were two anonymous persons who had allegedly approached NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and gave “guarantee” to win 160 out of 288 seats of Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Alliance.“Sharad Pawar said that some people (Maharashtra) met him before the elections. The same set of people also met Uddhav Thackeray during the Lok Sabha (Pol). We told him that we believe in democracy and will win the Lok Sabha elections in the country.”“We told him that the opposition achieved a huge success (in the Lok Sabha elections) and we would come to power in the assembly (elections). They asked us to hand over 60-65 difficult seats and promised to win through EVMs. However, Thakere said that we did not feel the need to do it.He further warned by individuals that “in power” (BJP -led Mahayati) had prepared “plan” through EVMs and electoral roles to secure the victory. The BJP won 132 seats in the assembly elections with the Allies Shiv Sena and NCP, adding 57 and 41 constituencies respectively, which was in Mahayuti Tally. On the other hand, MVA won only 46 seats (Shiv Sena (UBT) 20, Congress 16, and NCP (SP) 10).Pawar on Saturday fluttered political circles with his claim. He said that he introduced two persons who contacted him with the Lok Sabha leader of the opposition and Congress MP, Rahul Gandhi.Gandhi on Thursday made explosive claims of a “huge criminal fraud” in the elections through connivance between the BJP and the Election Commission, cited an analysis in an constituency in the Congress -ruled Karnataka, saying it was a “crime against the constitution”.The next day, he accused the Election Commission and the BJP collided with people to “steal” the Lok Sabha elections, and at least three states “vote theft”.Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has questioned the time of Pawar’s claims, dismissing him as a “Salim-Jeled Script”.
