Be alert – shake your doors and vehicles.”According to a local news report, a friend described Brown as a “soft soul” that was struggling with PTSD and it was known to all in the region. He later served at the Montana National Guard from 2006 to March 2009, leaving military service with the rank of Sergeant. Brown’s friend said that he had untreated mental health issues and still shared confusion about working in special forces. Local residents were concerned about their mental health and it was informed to the authorities but there was no intervention. “He needed help,” said friend. “It is devastating that no one heard until it was too late.”Bar owner David Guarder, who was not present during the shoot, told the Associated Press that he believed that Brown personally knew all the four victims. “He had no dispute with him. I think he gets upset,” said the guarder.
