US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Treasury Secretary Scott Besent is no longer considered to be the Chairman of the Federal Reserve to replace Jerome Powell, when Besant expressed his desire to remain in his current role.“I love Scott, but he wants to be where he is,” Trump said in a morning interview with CNBC, quoted by CNN. “I will take him off, because I asked him last night,” Is this something you want? No, I want to be where I am. “Trump said he is now looking at other candidates, including former Fed Governor Kevin Wars and top White House economist Kevin Haset, along with two other anonymous persons. The President is important for Powell on the decision of not cutting interest rates this year for a long time. “It’s too late,” “a Sunnaskul,” and “a full moran” are certain conditions, some of which Trump has used to describe the central bank chief, as quoted by CNN.Although Powell holds the top position in the Fed and greatly affects the monetary policy, it is one of the 12 members who vote on the decisions of the interest rate. Nevertheless, Trump’s frequent and aggressive public attacks have expressed concern over the intervention of the White House to intervene with the independence of the central bank.Meanwhile, Besant has played an important role in the US trade talks. Last week, he traveled to Sweden for interaction with Chinese trade authorities to expand the current tariff rates on the exchanged goods exchanged between the two countries. A decision is expected by August 12, the deadline for maintaining or adjusting those rates before the high tariff is effective.
