Heavy rain alert in many northwestern states as monsoon advances. Bharat News

Pune: India’s Meteorological Department on Saturday issued a warning of very heavy rain (red and orange alert) in many states in next week. Heavy rainfall of more than 200 mm in 24 hours has been forecast for isolated areas in Madhya Pradesh on June 23, with Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Gujarat, heavy rains are expected to experience heavy rains till 27 June.According to the forecast, Northwest India is ready to experience significant rainfall from 21-27 June. Jammu and Kashmir-Ladhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan are expected to receive heavy rains. Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are expected to receive heavy rains from June 21-26, there is a possibility of intense rainfall in UP till June 24. Delhi may expect heavy rainfall on 22-23 June. In particular, a warning of very heavy rainfall has been issued for East Rajasthan (21-23 June), South Haryana and Punjab (22 June), and UP (22-23 June).The IMD has predicted the progress of South -Western monsoon in the remaining parts of J&K, Ladakh, Punjab, Punjab, Haryana, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi in the next two days. A senior IMD officer told TOI, “The monsoon is moving towards the northern states and is likely to move in more parts including Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, some areas have already been covered. Delhi and other areas can be covered through thunderstorms and monsoon activity within the next two days.”The Meteorological Department has also warned of possible impact of heavy rainfall, including localized floods, waterfalls and closure in urban areas. Waterlogged roads in metropolitan cities may experience visibility, traffic congestion and increase in travel time. Pune is expected to see the increased rainfall activity from June 23, with light to moderate rainfall.On specific weather systems running this intense activity, the official said, “There is a low pressure area on the South-West Bihar region, which will move northwest and gradually weaken by Sunday. But an associated cyclone circulation is expected to move in the direction of one west. “This system is expected to receive very heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh and nearby areas on 23 June, and till 27 June there is very heavy rain activity at different places. “Since this system is on the ground, there is a possibility of experiencing significant effects in areas under its influence.”“Around 25 June, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop in Gangetic West Bengal and nearby areas. We are expecting Westerlies, or monsoon winds to strengthen the western coast,” the official said.
