‘Hounded by the government for the last ten years’: Rahul Gandhi supported Robert Vadra; Call Ed Chargesheet ‘Vich Hunt’ | Bharat News

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has come in strong support of his brother -in -law Robert Vadra, who faces allegations of money laundering from the Enforcement Directorate (ED).Taking X in X, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha condemned the ED’s charge sheet as a “witch hunting”, which remained for a decade.“My brother -in -law has been hound by this government for the last ten years. This latest charge sheet is a continuity of that witch hunting. I stand with Robert, Priyanka and their children because they face another attack of malicious, politically inspired sland and oppressed,” said Rahul.“I know that they are all brave enough to face any kind of harassment and they will continue to do so with dignity. The truth will eventually be strong, “he said.Earlier on Thursday, the Central Probing Agency registered a charge sheet against Vadra, alleging “income of crime” in a Gurgaon land deal worth more than Rs 58 crore. It comes a day after Ed when attached to its assets worth Rs 37 croreApart from Vadra, Ed has accused 11 others against the husband of MP Priyanka Gandhi in his charge sheet. Sources said other accused include Omkareshwar Properties and Promoter/Director Satyanand Yaji and KS Virk.The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has not yet been taken cognizance of the Ed Chargesheet against Robert Vadra.Reacting to the Ed Chargesheet, the Wadra’s office stated that “the current proceedings are nothing more than the expansion of political witch hunting by the present government”, saying that he would defend his name in court and clean them.The statement said, “As a citizen of a law, the Vadra will always continue to expand his full cooperation for the authorities and he is confident that at the end of all, they will be approved for any wrongdoing.”Ed’s Money Laundering Investigation 2018 is based on an FIR registered by the Gurgaon Police, alleging fraud transactions in the land deal. The ED on Wednesday attached 43 properties worth more than Rs 37 crore associated with Vadra and his institutions, including Skylight Hospitality Private Limited.
