‘I can also be jailed to say this’: Mamata Banerjee dismisses the teachers of West Bengal, saying ‘unable to accept SC Wordict’. Kolkata News

New Delhi: “I will not allow eligible candidates to lose school jobs,” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said during a meeting with teachers who lost their jobs after the Supreme Court. School service commission (SSC) in 2016.
Standing in his support for those affected by the decision, Banerjee said that he is committed to ensure that qualified candidates do not lose their positions or do not face breaks in service. “Please don’t think we have accepted the decision,” Banerjee said.
Despite the challenges caused by SC’s decision, the Chief Minister assured that the state government has separate plans to address the situation with fairness and care.
She also emphasized her unwavering trend to restore the dignity of those who lost their jobs, even stated that she was ready to face any legal consequences for her efforts to support the victims.
“We are not stone-stones … I can also be jailed to say this, but I don’t care,” Banerjee said, addressing a gathering of employees ended at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.
On April 3, the apex court canceled the appointments of the Calcutta High Court order, which called the process “detailed and tainted” by large -scale fraud and manipulation.
Confirming his stance from last week, Banerjee said: “I respect the judiciary but cannot accept the decision.” Drawing parallel to the Vyapam scam in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh, he asked, “How many BJP leaders were arrested in MP? Why Bengal?”
Attempting to “collapse Bengal’s education system” accusing the BJP and central agencies, Banerjee said it would continue to support the affected candidates on human grounds. “Catch me if you’re ready,” he said. “Our lawyers are reviewing the verdict. I am with the candidates … if the BJP wants to jiggle me for him, then it was,” he said earlier.
The Trinmool Congress accused the BJP and CPM of trying to exploit the crisis politically. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “There are inputs that can try to disrupt Provocators CM’s meeting. It is a conspiracy to stop them from opening lumps.”
The Supreme Court ruled that the candidates who prove to be proved to get jobs only through fake means should be rejected and their salary should be refunded, while those untouchability can be maintained. This allowed eligible persons to return to former government positions, if held.
The decision came after reviewing more than 120 petitions, which included one by the Bengal government. The court tampered with OMR sheet, approved vacancies and other irregularities. While 23 lakh candidates had applied for 24,640 posts, more than 25,700 appointment letters were issued.
TMC reported that during the CPM rule in Tripura, when 10,323 teachers lost their jobs, the party urged the courts not to punish everyone for the mistake of something. “Now they are saying opposite in Bengal,” Ghosh said, “We will not defend undesirable, but we will always stand by 20,000-odds which were quite recruited.”
He also questioned the BJP’s silence on the OMR sheet recovered from the roof of a businessman in Ghaziabad. “Who is he?” Ghosh asked, pointing to a big conspiracy.
