Miss Grand Malaysia 2021 winner Malaysian Beauty Queen and actor Lishalini Kanaran have recently accused an Indian priest of molesting her during a Hindu temple visit. After sharing a detailed description of the incident on Instagram two days ago, Kanaran came to light, after highlighting public outrage and calling for immediate action.Lishalini said that she used to visit the Maryamman temple in Sepang alone on 21 June, as her mother was in India. Being unfamiliar with the rituals of the temple, she usually trusted the priest for guidance.During the journey, the priest told him that he had some holy water and a protective string for him. After completing her prayer, she waited for about 90 minutes when the priest asked her to go to her private office for blessings.Inside the office, the priest inserted a strong-positive liquid, described by Lisalini as a rose or essence of flowers, in holy water and told him that it was brought from India and not given to the common people. Then she started publishing water on it, so much that she could not open her eyes. The situation increased when the priest allegedly asked Kanaran to lift his Punjabi suit. When he refused, explaining that it was very tight, he allegedly scolded him to wear such a dress. He then stood behind him, grabbed his head, and she started to mumb that she believed that there were prayers – allegedly putting her hands inside her blouse and bra.“My mind knew that everything about that moment was wrong and still I could not move forward. I could not speak. I froze. And I still do not understand,” he said.Kanaran said that he felt disgusting and deeply shocked on the next days. After her mother returns from India, she captures it. Surprised and angry, his mother informed the rest of the family members, and on 4 July filed a police complaint. When they returned to the temple, they found that the priest had already fled. “Apparently, the priest was no longer there. Somebody had already reported the same thing and no action was taken,” Kanran said, “accusing the temple management of giving priority to his reputation if he helped the victims.”A detailed social media post of the actress has expressed displeasure, in which a call has been made to arrest the suspect fast. The police have not yet seen the priest, but confirmed that efforts are underway to track him.Speaking to Malay Mail, Sepong District Police Chief ACP Norhizam Bahman said, “The suspected is an Indian citizen who was temporarily filling the situation as the priest of the temple is currently abroad.”He said, “The suspect’s modus operandi allegedly sprinkled holy water on the victim’s face and body before proceeding to tampering him,” he said.
