Do you believe that the Thai government is effectively handling the rebellion in the south?
Local police officer Watthana Thurarat told AFP, “One victim died on the spot, and two others died due to their hospital injuries.”
Police believe that the suspect, who lives on a large scale, is connected to a rebel group, Watthana said.
Violence often moves to the southern provinces of the state as Nathivat, Pattani and Yala, where separatists seeking more autonomy for religiously specific areas have killed more than 7,000 people since 2004.
However, attacks on unarmed citizens in residential areas are relatively rare, with most targeted security personnel.
In 2004, Thai security forces shot in a crowd of protesters outside a police station in Tak Bai, killing seven.
Subsequently, after arresting 78 others, the back of military trucks suffocated-a deadly crack was widely seen as a trigger for Southern disturbance in the Buddhist-Bahul country.
Last year, a Thai court dismissed the long delayed Ta Tak Bai case, which was brought against the families of the victims against seven officers, when the boundaries were over.
Analysts have warned that the decision may further increase tension in the region.
