‘I just knew that he was something crazy’: Hero Marine tried to open a passenger plane door mid-flight

A US Marine shared a moment in which he wrestled a disruptive passenger on the ground, so that he could prevent the emergency exit of an aircraft from opening the mid-hoda. The 50 -year -old SGT Maj Jody Armentrout said that his tendency was kicked when a man started behaving strangely in the All Nippon Airways flight from Japan to Texas on Saturday morning. Long -serving Marine, who spent more than two decades in the US Marine Corps, said he first saw the passenger wandering targetlessly between the bathrooms. “He came out of that one and started pace under and down the corridor, so that the simply threw my radar,” Armentrout told NBC News. “His eyes – you can definitely tell that something was going on.” When the passenger began to tamper with emergency exit, Armentrout jumped into action. He said, “He grabbed a strap around the door, pulled it, and about the time when I took him and slammed him, put him on the ground,” he said. Another older passenger helped the man to stop, while Armentrout tied him to a seat. The Houston-Bound Flight was then taken to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, where a person who was allegedly passing to a medical crisis was taken to the hospital. He has not been accused, the New York Post said. Japan -based Armentrout, sitting near the passenger for the remaining part of the journey and said that he worked out of anxiety for others on the ship. “I knew that he was somewhat crazy, and at the end of the day, I was ready to take a risk saying that ‘I am doing anything’ and then just allows me to do anything than to sit back to him to make them that anyone is going to risk.” Many passengers thanked Marines for his quick thinking and bravery, especially children and families on flight. However, the play did not end there. On landing in Seattle, another passenger, allegedly angry about diversion, punched a bathroom door. The FBI confirmed that the person was also removed by the Port of Seattle Police, but the charge was not made until Wednesday. Considering the incident, Armentrout simply said, “It was a strange flight.”
