‘If AI is the reason …’: viral post asks why companies are still asking for H -1 BS
Amidst a major pruning declared by American companies, a post has gone viral, indicating that one of the 10 companies employed by foreign labor, Microsoft demanded 14,181 H -1B. The post shared the H -1B requirements of other companies including Amazon, Nvidia, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, Apple etc. Post by investigative journalist Amanda Louis said that despite technical retrenchment, H -1B demand has not slowed down. “Microsoft has cut only thousands of American workers … yet they have already requested 14,181 more H-1B workers this year, and this is only Q2,” the post said. “If the AI is allowed to go to Americans, then why are companies still asking for hundreds of foreign technical activists?” The post was added. Social media users reacted to the post, began the ongoing debate on H -1B, to eat American jobs at a low price. “AI: Another Indian,” read a comment. “The clear answer is that the H1B system has always been about importing workers to reduce the wages of technical workers. That is why both sides, all billionaires, and all CEOs agree on the issue, they do not care about America – they only care about cheap workers!” One user wrote.“Any company that people are firing should not be allowed to apply for the H1B visa. There should be some kind of freeze period. It is just ridiculous,” another wrote. “It’s not going to say where I work, but another big technology company. Our boss often goes to India while hiring thousands of people. I need to hire thousands of people here. I need to know how to do farming and get a quiet place on the coast.” In May, Microsoft announced a cut in 6,000 roles targeting sales, management and non-crossing roles. Intel plans to abolish about 20 percent of his workforce, which will come in about 21000 jobs.
