Bangalore: The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (In-Space) has authorized Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited (SSCPL), a New Delhi-based unit, which is to deploy its low meaning orbit (LEO) satellite constals in India. The Starlink globally operated by Elon Musk -led SpaceX is demanding to enter the Indian market for some time. And approval, dated July 8 and July 7, is valid, is an important step in enabling satellite-based broadband services across the country, with SSCPL now authorized to provide satellite communication services using the Starlink Gen1 network. This global constellation consists of 4,408 satellites operating at altitude between 540 km and 570 km, and it is capable of giving a cumulative thrupoot of about 600 GBPs in Indian territory. The authority is valid for five years from the date of issuance of the authority or by the end of the operational life of General 1 Nakshatra – whoever comes first. In-space clarified that the commercial rollout of services would still require licenses from all necessary regulatory approval, approval and relevant government departments. The withdrawal of in-space is part of a comprehensive effort to liberalize India’s satellite communication sector and increase personal participation in space-based services. With this authority, SSCPL now has a regulatory leg to proceed with service finance plans, although it will still need to secure spectrum allocation and other approval from the department of telecommunications and other bodies.In-space officials described development as a major milestone in expanding India’s satellite communication ecosystem and supporting the next generation broadband access using space technology.
