New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday stopped Patanjali from publishing or circulating advertisements that allegedly criticize Dabar Chyawanprash.Justice Mini Pushkarna passed the order listening to the interim application filed by Dabur. The court will again raise the case on 14 July. The issue began after Patanjali broadcast an advertisement with his founder, Swami Ramdev, an advertisement characteristic of the Bar and Bench. In the advertisement, he is seen questioning the authenticity of other Chyawanprash products available in the market.
The advertisement says: “In the Gun Nahi, Charaka, Sushruta, Dhanwantari and the Paramapra of Chyavanishi,Dabur also raised objections on parts of the advertisement, where a 40-hub Chyawanprash was called “simple”.Dabur argued that this was a clear context of its product, claiming to include “40+ herbs” and has a market share of more than 60 percent in the Chawanprash section. According to Dabur, there were three types of inequality in statements – Patanjali’s own formula to present his formula, questioning Dabur’s link for Ayurvedic tradition, and portraying Dabur’s product as inferior.
