Joe Root gave another batting masterclass to bring his 39th Test hundred, and carried forward his position as one of the greatest to translate the format. At the fifth and final tests against India in the oval, the route reached milestones off 137 balls, helping England shut down in a series-clinning win. Echoing across the ground as mantras of “Ruoot”, the 34 -year -old delivered a long leg and scored back for two, removed his helmet and raised his bat in the dressing room. In an emotional moment, he took out a headband and pointed to the sky in a tribute to Graham Thorap. His proud parents reached his feet in praise from the stand.

Dastak increased the dominance of the route on India. His milestone has now made 13 Tests against visitors, the most made by any batsman, two out of 11 of Steve Smith. It also pushed the previous route of 38 test centuries of Kumar Sangakkara, making them only put on the all-time list behind Sachin Tendulkar (51), Jacques Kallis (45), and Ricky Ponting (41). Root also became the first player to cross 6,000 runs in the World Test Championship history. Playing his 69th WTC Test, he leads the run chart with over 6,000 runs, Smith (4,278), Lebschen (4,225), Stokes (3,616), and ahead of Head (3,300). Their stability remains unmatched in the cycle, with 21 centuries and 23 half -centuries. His innings came into a state of pressure, in which England chased 374 and sealed the series 3–1. After the Quickfire 111 of Harry Brook, Root took charge, which disappointed India’s Seam attack. His fifty deep backward classes came with a push for the leg, and from there, he kept moving the strike and looking for the gaps with clinical precision. The batsman also equaled Sunil Gavaskar for hundreds of testing against a rival. Root joined Gavaskar with 13 Test tons against India, and now only Don Bradman’s 19 vs. England. Additionally, it is the 16th hundred of the route against India in international cricket, the highest joint with Steven Smith. Most test hundreds against a rival

  2. Sunil Gavaskar – 13 – vs West Indies
  3. Joe Root – 13 – vs India

In addition, his hundred only added to the list of individual milestones in this series. The root 100 means that there are 21 individual hundreds of individuals in this five-observance series, with the highest level in a series, first belonging to Australia in the West Indies in 1955.
