New Delhi: India’s veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane praised young wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurlel, who was hurt by vice-captain Rishabh Pant to take wicketkeeping responsibilities during the fourth test against England. Pants fractured their toe on 1 of the fourth Test at the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.Rahen, who is currently in England, took Juraral in ‘X’ (East Twitter) for his performance, called it one of the most difficult tasks in the game.“Wicket-keeper is difficult to join as mid-game, but Dhruv Jurlel stepped and did a really concrete work. He was given full credit,” Rahane posted.Speaking further over the challenge, Rahane highlighted the difficulty of adopting mid-match, especially in English conditions.“When you are sitting outside, when you are watching the game and suddenly you have to come in and keep the wicket -keeping, which I think is the most difficult task in England.This was the second time in the ongoing series when Jurall was asked to donate gloves. In the third Test, the pants also upheld a finger injury, trying to stop delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. Jurall then stepped into his absence to keep the wickets in his absence.
After the conclusion of the fourth test, which ended into a draw, the BCCI confirmed that the pants were excluded from the remaining part of the series. Narayan Jagadisin was named as his replacement in the squad.Given the recent experience of Jurall behind the stumps, he is likely to play in the eleven of playing for the fifth and final test.The final test will be held from 31 July to 4 August at the Oval, London.
