New Delhi: KL Rahul recently opened up about one of its biggest regrets in the IPL, in 2016 the final loss with Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bangalore) Sunrisers Hyderabad (Srh).

“Virat and I have talked about it many times. If one of us played for a while and won that game, it would have been very different. And winning IPL is very special. It was very special for the 2016 season. RCBWe were under the table and had to win seven games in a row to qualify, and we did. We went to win the eliminator and reached the finals, “Rahul remembered.
Chasing 209, RCB was reduced to just eight runs, despite Kohli’s 54 off 54 off 35 balls and Rahul’s 114 runs.

Rahul reflected how close he was to finish an angel-story. “If one of us had stayed for a long time, it could have been a very different story. It would have been unforgettable to win home in Chinnaswamy,” he said.
Beyond regret, Rahul talked about how his time in RCB turned him into a cricketer. After joining as a young man, Rahul said that he initially lacked faith in his white ball skills. However, sharing a dressing room with legends such as Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle had a huge impact on them.
Rahul said, “Given how Virat, AB, and Chris trained and contacted for the game and had the best learning experience. I raised a lot from him – from fitness to mental cruelty,” Rahul said. He credited Kohli’s fitness journey to motivate him to take more seriously, which improved better stability in forms.
Rahul said, “From 2014-15, I started believing that I can be successful in white-ball cricket too.”
