India’s Operation Sindoor Diplomacy: Why BJP is advancing Shashi Tharoor but Congress is not India News

New Delhi: The news of Shashi Tharoor to lead a delegation of MPs at India’s outreach program on Operation Sindoor may not have surprised many including the Congress leader and his party. In the last two weeks, Tahrur has been one of the vocal supporters Narendra Modi government On India-Pakistan deadlock. So much so that the Congress was officially forced to declare that Tharoor’s statements were their own views and not the party’s official stand. There is no doubt that Tharoor, who is a former diplomatic and has a rich experience in international relations, is the best person to lead India’s diplomacy against Pakistan on Operation Sindoor. But when the Congress suggested four names for the job, Tharoor’s name was missing. The government, however, moved forward and named a seven -member delegation which included Tharoor, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sanjay Kumar Jha and Supriya Sule. After the announcement, Congress leader Jeram Ramesh told the government that the party’s heads Mallikrajun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi suggested the names of Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, Raja Brar and Anand Sharma, none of which had made the final list. This reacted sharply to the BJP. Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused the Congress of internal hypocrisy. “So Jeram Ramesh opposed his own Congress colleague Shashi Tharoor to be elected to lead the Parliamentary delegation!” He posted on X. “Why does Rahul Gandhi oppose every person who speaks for India, even in his party?”BJP’s Amit Malviya also excavated an excavation, suggesting that the Congress leadership was uncomfortable with anyone, who oversees the party’s ‘high command’.Meanwhile, Tharoor clearly welcomed the government’s decision and clearly stated that in his mind, “it has nothing to do with party politics”.“When the nation needs my services, I am available and I am available for my country. It has nothing to do with party politics. All this has been with our country in recent times and we need to introduce a united front … It is a good reflection of national unity when unity is important at a time,” Congress MP said.In recent times, Tharoor’s ineffective support for the government during the India-Pakistan standoff has increased eyebrows within its party. His statements are in line with the government that critics say that he is behaving like a BJP spokesperson compared to an opposition MP.While the Congress has expressed support for the armed forces and Operation Sindoor in response to the April 22 Pahgam attack, it has also questioned the claims of Trump of the ceasefire broker between India and Pakistan. The government has said that the ceasefire was started by the DGMO of Pakistan. However, Tharoor has publicly rejected Trump’s claims, unlike the party’s stand. Tharur said, “I see it as a special politician who wants to take credit for something and I can see that the Government of India probably said – if they want, let them take credit.” The Congress MP praised the government’s message on the issue. When some Congress leaders tried to draw similarities with the 1971 war and Indira Gandhi’s leadership, Tharoor also removed himself from that story.“Today’s Pakistan is a different situation. They can separate their military capacity and potential losses. Bangladesh was a moral reason – it is not the same. Today a war will be tall and bloody. Is India’s top priority? No, it’s not,” Tharoor said. This is not the first time Tharoor has found itself with the Congress on its praise for the foreign policy of the Prime Minister Modi government. Earlier, Tharoor admitted that he was “left with eggs on the face to oppose India’s stance” when the Russia-Ukraine War broke in 2022. Former UN diplomat also praised the result of PM Modi’s meeting with Trump at the White House. In February, Tharoor posted a selfie with Union Minister Piyush Goyal and praised the government for reviving the long -term Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the UK. The MP of Thiruvananthapuram also praised the government for his ‘vaccine friendship’ initiative, which facilitated the distribution of Kovid -19 vaccines in many countries. Earlier this month, as PM Modi shared the stage with Tharoor during the inauguration of the Vizinjam port in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, PM also made a swipe in Congress, saying, “Aaj ka Event Bahut Logon Ki needs to be trillion (Today’s incident is going to disturb the sleep of many people). ,Tahrur’s inclusion in Operation Sindoor Outreach certainly reflects his diplomatic stature and global credibility, but it also highlights the departure from the party’s stand. The Congress, like any other opposition party, wants its representative to support the government, as far as the fight against terror is concerned, but does not give a clean chit or does not justify almost all government policies as Tharoor has done in the last one week.
