‘Insensitive’ and ‘violation of national spirit’: Ministry of Consumer Affairs sends notices to Amazon, Flipkart and other websites for selling Pakistani flags and goods

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to e-commerce platforms in India, including the flag corporation on the sale of Amazon India, Flipkart, Ubui India, ETSI, The Flag Company and Pakistani National Flags and related merchandise. In a post on Twitter, Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the ministry has directed ecommerce companies to immediately take down such listing, “insensitive” and violate the national spirit. “CCPA has issued notices to @Amazonin, @flipkart, @ubuyindia, @atsy, flag company and flag corporation on the sale of Pakistani flags and related goods. Such insensitivity will not be tolerated. E-commerce platforms are immediately directed to remove all such materials and asked the national laws.

The minister’s warning sent a letter to Union Commerce Ministers Piyush Goyal and Phald Joshi after the all-India Traders (CAIT) conflict, so that the sale of Pakistani flags and other goods can be banned on e-commerce platforms working in India. It is a serious matter that takes the risk of reducing national unity and pose a possible threat to our internal harmony and safety,” it further said.This move took place after Operation Sindoor-India’s retaliation on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied by Pakistan on April 22, after the Pahgam terror attack.
