However, by then, a formal complaint was filed in Kolkata and legal proceedings had started.Panoli was produced in Kolkata court on Saturday, where his bail plea was rejected and sent to judicial custody by June 13, PTI Informed He has been accused under several classes related to promoting enmity among groups and creating religious disagreements.

Kolkata Police: ‘After legal processes’

In response to online speculation about the validity of arrest, Kolkata Police issued a statement in which it was clarified that all fixed procedures were followed.The statement said, “In the context of Garden Reach Police Station Case No. 136 dated 15.05.2025, some social media narratives have suggested the illegal arrest of a law student.” “All legal procedures were duly followed. Several attempts were made to serve the notice, but she was absconding every time. A competent court then issued an arrest warrant, and was duly apprehended from Gurugram.,The statement said that he was produced before a magistrate and provided transit remand according to legal criteria.

Suvendu officer slam for arrest as ‘appeasement politics’

Reacting to the arrest, BJP leader and Leader of West Bengal Opposition Suvendu Adikari accused the state government of selective action.“Was filed against Mahua Motra for derogatory remarks about Goddess Kali.
