New Delhi: Every year, franchises spend huge amounts on players to secure their services. While some players shine, others fail to live up to expectations. Even famous names sometimes find themselves in the list of underperformers.
The IPL of this season is no exception, in which some big names are in that unwanted list.

Rishabh Pant – LSG (Match: 3 | Run: 15)
The IPL 2025 mega auction is struggling to find the form with Rishabh Pant’s most expensive player bat. Lucknow is bought by Super Veterans for Rs 27 crore and assigned with captaincy, Pant has failed to distribute as expected. So far in three matches, he has scored only 15 runs at a disappointing average of 7.50.
Rohit Sharma – MI (Match: 3 | Run: 21)
Rohit Sharma, captain of former Mumbai Indians, was maintained for Rs 16.30 crore from the IPL 2025 mega auction, the most successful captain in the history of franchise with five IPL titles. However, his form for the team has been disappointing. Among the three matches he has played so far, Rohit has scored just 21 runs on a disappointing average of 7.00.
Abhishek Sharma – SRH (Match: 3 | Run: 31)
Explosive left -arm opener Abhishek Sharma is known for his aggressive start, often his team starts a flight from the word Go. However, this did not happen for Sunrisers Hyderabad Star this season. His bat is yet to catch fire, as he has scored just 31 runs in three matches at an average of 10.33. He was maintained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 14 crore for IPL 2025.
Venkatesh Iyer – KKR (Match: 3 | Run: 9)
KKR all -rounder Venkatesh Iyer was the third most expensive player in the IPL 2025 mega auction. After playing an important role in KKR’s title winner IPL 2024 campaign- 370 runs, including four half-centuries- Frenchie bought him back for Rs 23.75 crore. However, Iyer has struggled this season, scoring just 9 runs in three matches at a dismal average of 4.50.
Rinku Singh – KKR (Match: 3 | Run: 29)
Rinku Singh immediately mentions the memories of his five breathtaking sixes in IPL 2023. Famous for his game-changing batting, Rinku is struggling to find his rhythm in this season, failing to add the way he is known. His poor form is a major concern for KKR, which is at the bottom of the table with just one win in three matches. The IPL 2025 mega auction was retained for Rs 13 crore, Rinku has scored only 29 runs in several games.
Yashsvi Jaiswal – RR (Match: 3 | Run: 34)
Explosive youth is known to provide a solid foundation to the left -handed Yashsvi Jaiswal with his aggressive stroke. A trusted opener, he has struggled to find his rhythm in this season. With a score of 1, 29 and 4 in three matches, Yashsvi has failed to influence in Powerplay. The IPL 2025 mega auction was retained for Rs 18 crore, his form is a concern for his team.
MS Dhoni – CSK (Match: 3 | Run: 46)
Chennai’s Super Kings, using the “Uncapped Player” rule, retained Mahendra Singh Dhoni, famous for Rs 4 crore from the IPL 2025 season, allowing teams to maintain teams that have not represented India internationally in the last five years. At the age of 43, Dhoni remains a fan favorite, but the struggle to end the games as his form has expressed concern about his influence. CSK has won only one win in its three matches so far.
